Vision:

It is stated that Dr. Ashraf Mohamed Soliman has high quality teaching and researching skills. Dr. Soliman is currently worked at kingdom University, Bahrain in the fields of Architecture, Design, and urban planning. Dr. Soliman has 20 years of diversified urban planning, architectural design, GIS, Building technology, and computer applications in both architecture and urban planning experiences which he – since his graduation in 1994 – has continuously honed through teaching Architectural Design studio, urban planning, working drawing Documents, Building construction, technical installations, CAD, and GIS applications courses, in addition to master supervising. Administration work, quality Assurant requirements are very easy duties for him due to works as chairman of interior design department and many university committees as well. He used to teach and work align to the requirements of Quality Assurance Authority by applying all related policies such as teaching and learning, assessment, research, anti-plagiarism, etc. 

He is familiar with high technology of teaching tools, such as smart board, interactive projectors, as well as with the traditional tools, free hand sketch, whit-board, and chalk and blackboard. He has advanced awareness about REBA and CIDA which is a result of developing both Architectural and Interior Design program in Kingdom University. Dr. Soliman has a lot of research activates and have publication in field of urban development and physical city planning. Dr. Soliman also has deep professional experiences though his works as consultat engineer at Ministry of housing of Egypt. He developed a lot of strategic master plans for many cities and villages in upper Egypt region

Teaching Philosophy

Teaching is a kind of holy careers, the delivered knowledge should be greater than the benefits coming from teacher salary, also I believe that the teachers are like prophets, both delivers science and knowledge to people without balancing their efforts with the gain interest. Thus I work ten times my salary value.
I recognized that enhancing architecture design skills of students is particularly valuable and worthwhile, therefore I used to encourage students to work as teamwork in very motivate environment within the design studio; this method and environment I believe  mentor students and contribute to their intellectual growth, and gain new perspectives of their ideas. The specific subjects and courses I prepared to teach are Design studio, Working Drawing, BIM, GIS, and construction Process, Materials and construction systems, Codes and regulations, sustainable urbanism, in addition to supervising internship and the theses of master students. Most important theme of built environment is the green design; therefor recently I am going to orient my research trend to LEED requirements. My objective for students is to be globally very strong competitors in architecture market after graduation. Therefore I usually keen to works in the framework of international standards. My objective does not differ depending on the type of course or students’ level; but my methodology is sure differ depending the course level I am going to teach; For the lower levels of students (new comer students) I emphasis and focus on the knowledge and understanding skills with moderated subject and specific skills and little of thinking and intellectual skills and general and transferable skills, then I used to inverse the my focus gradually form knowledge to general and transferable skills with the upper students level (going to be graduated students) To meet my objectives I use my power point presentations to deliver the knowledge, develop students’ ideas by projects and research to gain the subject skills, manage brainstorming sessions in the class and studio to enhance the intellectual skills of students, and involve students in the research, presentation, and workshop participations in order to achieve the transferable skills.  I use may type of assessment methods such as, assignments, quiz test, written exams, jury and research. I order to open the way for the talent student I formulate the teams in the studio based on the students’ capacities, each has its capacity level, and then I try to enhance the low capacity group with sometime assistant of the high capacity group. I continually measure my objectives of learning and teaching my courses; that come by the developing class report about the used teaching, learning and assessment strategies - based on the students’ evaluation report- and by measure the Course intended learning outcomes through linkage between the CILOs and the assessments criteria during designing the assessment strategies and assessment criteria. Then From the students result I can measure the CILOs, which is subject of my objective. The average percentage of my students evaluation though last 4 years is 85 %, and the feedback I got from peer review and my line manager evaluation were excellent during working at Kingdom University for four academic year
